Juvéderm® is one of the most popular medi-spa treatments in the US. Many women are looking at filling in wrinkles, fine lines, and folds on the face, and around their lips, eyes, or forehead.
Juvéderm® is a hyaluronic acid-based filler, a substance that is naturally occurring in the body. It can hold more than 1,000 times its weight in water, which gives your skin that plump, juicy, youthful look everyone is after. You’ll find hyaluronic acid in many facial creams as well, but they can only do so much. The creams can’t get as deep into your skin as the injections can.
Hyaluronic acid also stimulates the production of collagen -- the connective tissue that plumps everything up. As you age, your body doesn’t produce as much of these products, increasing the appearance of wrinkles and sagging that might take place.
At Modern Aesthetics of Spring Hill, we use Juvéderm® Ultra and Juvéderm® Ultra Plus products for facial injections. Both products provide a smooth, long-lasting correction of facial wrinkles and folds. These two formulations contain the highest concentration of cross-linked, non-animal hyaluronic acid of any dermal filler currently available. Your results from a single treatment, in the majority of patients, will last for up to six months or longer.
The entire appointment can take anywhere between 15 and 60 minutes, depending on location. While recovery time is minimal, there are some things that you can do that could help:
- Avoiding Aspirin, alcohol, and supplements such as garlic, ginseng, and Ginkgo Biloba for ten days before your appointment.
- For 24 hours following your treatment, avoiding sun exposure (indoor or natural), exercise, makeup, and avoiding alcohol will help with any minor swelling, bruising, or irritation. You can also apply some topical arnica if you’re experiencing any bruising.
Juvéderm® dermal fillers should only be administered by a trained and qualified health care provider, such as the practitioners at Modern Aesthetics of Spring Hill.
